Nairaland!!!!
Appreciating the brain behind this wonderful project for a young Nigerian man, could only be acknowledged by taking a visit to the site. Been on the internet for like forever and been to few Nigerian-oriented sites, even though, every site seems to be good in their own way, but Seun Osewa(webmaster) could only be praised for the brain behind the wonderful job and seems to me like he's the only one handling it. Been in Nigeria shouldnt be a barrier in making your impact known, he proved it with great gusto.
To my amazement when writing this blog, I was just browsing through the "Wikipedia" online encyclopedia, the almighty NAIRALAND's 1000 Naira thread, is the link to the encyclopedia's external source for its information. Even though the site seems to have the Nigerian currency (naira) as the name of the domain, I wasnt so surprised to see that the site is not so Nigerian. The reason is well-known to the webmaster, but some Nigerian flava is needed in this great Nigerian online forum. Some Nigerian traits like dissing, redirecting from the topic of the thread in its entirety and lack of respect in the name of freedom of speech that is well associated with Nigerians couldnt be found wanting on there.
The profusion of intellectually challenging conversations cant stop you from going back to read replies, even when you dont have the interest of contributing, it will worth your while to take a shot at replies of Nferyn, Ijebuman, Dejiolowe, Seun (just to mention a few). Their sense of reasoning could only be paralled with the quality of threads they dare to give their input on. While some threads are pretty interesting and gives you the urge to take part, some are just plain annoying, you cant help but ignore the thread.
But what keeps you coming to the site? Varieties of topics to talk about, ranging from Entertainments, Technology, Fashion, Sports, Relationships, wont sure be bore you when reading. Having the young* generation at its beck makes the site very interesting to visit and just lay back and read. Post from "hot-angel", "nike4luv", "WesleyanA", sure has an impact on lots of the members, their post making 30% of the whole forum sure has some say on their impact on the site.
The site is a pretty great place so far, and there's always room for advancement, take a trip down there sometimes when you have some time to while away. It will worth your while. I bet yah!!
Hmm...strictly good command of the ENGLISH language is allowed by the administrator, so non-Nigerian is sure at home and Nigerians, pidgin is not allowed!!!
PS: The writer's views doesnot in anyway have the consent of the administrator, individuals mentioned are just admired by the writer!!

Thanks a million for writing about Nairaland. Though you forgot to include a link to the forum so people can visit the site you're praising!

he he great article about NL. Its one of the best Nigerian forums out there. It does attract its fair share of 'loonies' but it is truly a microcosm of the larger Nigerian society.

High time for me to start blogging as well ;-)
Your truly captured the spirit of Nairaland. Even though I'm mostly involved in the discussion threads, what I appreciate most is the sense of community and openness.
I'll definitely keep a few friends through the forum and that alone makes it worth the many hours spent

Great and true things you said here about Nairaland.Am one of those who spends quite a lot of time on the site, but really does not contribute much. Somtimes the arguments are so lame and annoying, sometimes the discussions are lively, and you just dont want them to stop! But most importantly,it is site that keeps those of us outside the country, very much at home with our fatherland(or is it motherland?!).
Cheers

Great article my guy. Too bad the admin is getting in the head of it's members now. There have been confusion of soo many form on the land. And those members you metions. Nike4luv and hot-angel, their posts counts have been reduced to zero, a sign from the admin that he does not appreciate them. How sad. Those poor lads wasted their time on nairaland. What do they get for it? Their post count deleted to zero, there by making their effort nothing.

Good article. Unfortunately, it fails to address the evil side of the admin, thus setting new users up to be caught unawares when they are greeted by negative, arrogant comments from Seun.
I fail to see the essence of the heavy censorship that goes on there. Thus www.nairaland.net was born. Sign up at www.nairaland.net if you're against the censorship perpetrated at nairaland.com.

Hello
Wow i was shocked i had to read this article over and over again to be sure it was not another forum you were writing about.I have been on nairaland for a long time and since seazed contributing because it has really gone down hill. Seun the admin has gotten it into his head that the members are below him and he is God over all that is said. By all mean go visiting the forum you will see nothing but unintelligent, and ridiculous threads. It is quite shameful and i wonder if some of the things discussed and the ppl are actually educated or even have a brain at all.
I see members like Hot angel were given praise and all for their great contributions...lol how laughable this is, as Hotangel is just a 16yr old who is oversexed, has no regard for ppl, openly says she will sleep with women, talks of How she thinks Incest in ok and only gossips about ppl on Hi5 putting their pictures up and talking sex like a porn star. You are left wondering is she is actually a student or she is in a brothel somewhere in the US.
Nfern is another mentioned, this seem to be seun's mentor in everything''anti-christain''or religion. It is all well and good to not beleive in God but Nfern and his twisted ideologies, frequents the Christain zone of nairaland constantly , antagonising them for their beliefs and in effect make those belivers leave.
the bullying tactics used by seun is really shameful, anyone of more intelliegnt reasoning is thrown out for challenging any veiw he expresses on the site. He openly changes users details, changing either their nicknames to ridicule them or deletes their post if they dare ask a question.
it is now common knowlegde that seun has other aliases on the site and would use these to give substance to threads he posts in his original name , or use them to openly pick fights and call ppl names on the forum,(his rule which he breaks)
His use of aliases to drum up new members and gain publicity is also common knowledge, the recent was one of a girl PAPERMOON, a name he assumed to, he went on to annouce her death and cause mass greiving on the forum which was laughable to some of us with brains becos we knew who was behind it. As soon as some started asking questions, then an then only he decided to say something, prior to thishe had been quiet and many thot this was out of character. he went on to ban some of my friends who knew and could prove his IP address was thesame as that of this so called Papermoon.
Enough said about Seun's world, dont get me wrong, i am a member of other sites and though the admin annoys the hell out of ppl, none is hated as much as seun Osewa, so many ppl saying thesame thing, one would say there is no smoke with out fire and seun if you are reading this, your time is coming. many Many great forums out there guys, dont waste your time and then find out later all your time and effort was for nothing. Many like you have written about how wonderful Niaraland is in their Blogs and thesame ppl have turned round few months downt the line to say what an Idiot and waste of time Nairland is. You will find many registered users on display there, but trust me not all are active any more, if you join post one topic you become active in seun's book lol. Plus the one now left are teenagers with nothing but fluff between their ears.
